The search for alternatives to violence gave birth to the precursors of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) thus making it an important critical aspect in the resolving of disputes all over the world. Even with that whenever a dispute arises the parties will go to their lawyers and the lawyers will issue a notice of intention to sue the other party in court without considering whether the dispute can be resolved in a different way. This has led to an increase in cases in the court system thus leading to case backlog.
