Item SINGLE PARENTING AND ECONOMIC WELLBEING OF SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN AT EMBRACE CHRISTIAN FOUNDATION, MULAGO DIVISION KAMPALA(2024-09-11) Bayiga Paula SanyuABSTRACT The study investigated how single parenting affect economic wellbeing of special needs children at Embrace Christian Children Foundation. This study being guided the by three objectives, to investigate how single parents meet the feeding and clothes costs of special needs children at Embrace Christian Children Foundation; to investigate how single parents meet health-related costs of special needs children at Embrace Christian Children Foundation, and to investigate how single parents afford education costs of special needs children at Embrace Christian Children Foundation.The study was carried out using the research design that is cross sectional where the utilization of quantitative research approach is done. Data was collected using questionnaires from single mothers and some administrators; whereas key informants were interviewed. The study foundthat there is an unquestionable understanding of the effect of single parenting on the economic wellbeing of special needs children. This is very well raised by the uncontrolled unreliable evidence from single parent whereby the single parents can barely afford costs living for ensuring the wellbeing of their special needs children. It was discovered that there is no specially designed national government programs to deal with the needs of the special need children especially living with parents who are single. The results demonstrated in categories that single parenting negatively affect economic wellbeing of special needs children especially by rejecting them feeding and clothing, education and good healthcare. harm the victims' hopes and dreams for the future. The results thus demonstrate the limited support from Government and other organizations has had significant influence on the way single parents meet the costs of feeding and clothing, education and healthcare for their special needs children. The recommends that there is urgent need for government to put first its supports to single parents with special need children by formulating national programs specifically well designed to cater for the economic complexities of single parents with children. The study also recommends that more research is needed towards approaches of dealing with economic hardships pertaining to single parent’s households. In that there a need to come up with effective solution strategies to address the dangers of single parents with special needs children that will enable such children to acquire a proper feeding, clothing, education and healthcare.
