The study was guided by three objectives; which were; to identify the most common forms of violence’s that female students experience in selected secondary schools in Kapchorwa Municipality, to assess causes of GBVs against girls selected secondary schools in Kapchorwa Municipality, and finally to find determine the effect of GBV on academic performance of girls in selected secondary schools in Kapchorwa Municipality. Cross sectional survey design was employed in collecting data through questionnaires and guided interview. Targeted population of the respondents was 263 out of which 75 were selected from three secondary schools through random and purposive sampling styles. Content and thematic data analysis was employed for qualitative data whereas quantitative information was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) computer program. The study's conclusions showed that gender-based violence affects female students in the classroom and other settings when they are engaged in both indoor and outdoor activities. The parents of female students were found to be diploma holders, and a sizable portion of them were illiterate. This information might have a direct impact on the domestic gender-based violence that female students experience. In addition, the study's findings demonstrated that the practices of locking the school gates to latecomers and the girls' overwhelming workloads at home were the main contributors to domestic gender-based violence against female preparatory students. This data generally leads us to the conclusion that gender-based violence and its effects on female students' academic performance are directly related. One of the main causes of the problem against female pupils, which progressively undermines their academic performance, was parents' ignorance about the effects of gender-based violence and how to resolve the difficulties.
