    THE CONTRIBUTION OF THE CLERGY IN ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT OF THE CHRISTIANS IN THE DIOCESE OF MA’DIWEST-NILE

    The purpose of this study is to investigate the significant and relevant contributions of the clergy in economic empowerment of the Christians in the diocese of Ma’di west-Nile where the Clergy play a very vital role in the economic empowerment of the Christians they lead. Use of desk research approach is implored with limited interviews to explore relevant information. A Biblical concept of empowerment is discussed based on both Old and New Testament Literatures. Then comprehensive discussion of the activities and contributions the Clergy make towards the Economic Empowerment of the Christians in Diocese of Ma’di- WestNile is looked at which among others include; leadership development, educational and training programs, organizing vocational training, personal growth and development, community services and outreaches. The thesis also looks at the challenges the clergy encounter while contributing to the economic empowerment of the Christians which include; lack of clergy expertise, resistance to change, socio-economic disparities and religious opposition. We then have conclusion and recommendations like; inclusive approach, advocacy and awareness, capacity building and community engagement. Lastly we have the Bibliography.
