| dc.description.abstract | The research investigated how NGOs support street children welfare development in Northern Division of Kabale Municipality. The study had three objectives which required examination of NGO street child rehabilitation duties and investigation of street child street challenges in Kabale municipality and assessment of community street child rehabilitation duties. The researcher schose 50 respondents as their study population. The researchers collected data through three methods which included observation and the use of questionnaires and conducting interviews. The researchers processed collected data through editing and coding before entering it into computer system for analysis which they conducted using Excel and Microsoft statistical package to create table results. The study findings demonstrated that NGOs support street children welfare through their provision of essential needs and protective services and their work to defend the rights of street children. The study discovered that street children experience multiple challenges which include child abandonment and neglect together with different types of abuse and exploitation and genital mutilation and abduction and poverty and HIV/AIDS and violence Children face significant dangers during these challenges because their situation requires development of policies and programs which will protect their well-being. The community fulfills a crucial role because it creates safe spaces for people and operates local services which support social reintegration and it runs facilities that provide food and shelter and medical assistance and counseling services to street children and it serves as a link between children and their families while offering support to prevent re-abandonment and it creates safe community areas which will help to protect children from exploitation. The study demonstrates that NGOs have successfully reduced street child populations yet active community participation remains essential for solving the street child issue. | |
