| dc.description.abstract | This study investigates the status, processes, and challenges of Anglican Church land registration in Nyaruhanga Archdeaconry, to enhance land security and proper management within the Church of Uganda. The research examines the extent to which church land has been documented, the legal frameworks guiding land registration, and the institutional capacity of church leadership in managing land-related issues. Data were collected through interviews, analysis of documents, and field observation involving clergy members, lay leaders, and local government administrators. The results show that significant amounts of church land are unregistered mainly because of poor legal knowledge, limited finances, and challenges related to historical ownership. Besides these factors, encroachment and customary land use have increased the risk of disputes and loss of property. The research recommends actions aimed at capacity building of church leaders, collaboration with government land offices, and establishment of a centralized land registry at the diocesan level. Successful land registration is paramount in the protection of church property as well as the enhancement of sustainable development in the Nyaruhanga Archdeaconry. | |
