| dc.description.abstract | This study explores how mobile journalism (Mojo) is affecting news production in media houses in Uganda. Mobile journalism refers to the use of smartphones and other small digital devices to gather, record, edit, and share news. Many journalists today rely on their phones when covering breaking stories because the devices are easy to carry, quick to use, and allow for quick information sharing. The objective of this research was to examine how Mojo has impacted the way news is gathered, the rate at which news is produced, the quality of news, and the challenges journalists face in the process. In conducting the research, the quantitative method was used. Data was collected from various journalists and editors using questionnaires. Research has established that mobile journalism has positively impacted news production in many ways. For instance, it has helped in the quick production of news. Journalists can easily record videos, take photos, and post updates from the field without waiting to acquire expensive equipment. However, the research also identified various challenges associated with the use of mobile journalism. For example, it was discovered that some mobile phones used by the journalists were ineffective at storing videos. They were also found to have poor video or audio quality. Additionally, the research found that not all journalists were well-trained in mobile journalism. This affected the quality of news being produced.
