This deficiency impedes healthcare providers' ability to deliver optimal care, resulting in inefficiencies in medical treatments, monitoring processes, and informed decision-making [1]. Despite efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure, approximately 60% of Uganda's population, residing in diverse rural and urban areas, face limited access to healthcare facilities. Moreover, the Uganda Demographic and Health Survey (2022) reveals that only 23% of health facilities across the country possess complete and functional computerized systems for recording patient information. Consequently, fragmented medical records persist as a pervasive barrier to timely and effective healthcare delivery, affecting individuals nationwide. In response to these challenges, Doc Ease Project aims to develop and deploy a comprehensive electronic medical records (EMR) platform tailored to Uganda's healthcare landscape. By implementing this EMR system across healthcare facilities, both urban and rural, the project seeks to enhance access to healthcare services, streamline medical treatments, and enable data-driven decision-making among healthcare providers. Through a combination of technological innovation, capacity-building initiatives, and strategic partnerships, the Doc Ease Project endeavors to address the systemic challenges hindering healthcare accessibility and delivery in Uganda, ultimately improving health outcomes and quality of life for individuals across the country. The significance of the Doc Ease Project lies in its potential to revolutionize healthcare delivery in Uganda by providing a robust, user-friendly, and accessible electronic medical records solution. Safiri aims to enhance affordability, convenience, and safety for passengers while promoting sustainable transportation practices. Through fuel cost sharing, rigorous driver verification procedures, and comprehensive ride-sharing insurance, Safiri ensures a secure and efficient travel experience. Additionally, it contributes to environmental sustainability by reducing carbon emissions through shared rides and promoting carpooling among users. Key findings indicate that Safiri offers a viable solution to the transportation challenges faced by Uganda, providing a more affordable and convenient alternative to traditional taxis and private hire vehicles. Furthermore, it fosters community engagement and income generation opportunities for drivers. The significance of this project lies in its potential to transform the transportation landscape in Uganda, improving access to safe and reliable transportation while reducing environmental impact. By combining affordability, convenience, safety, and sustainability, Safiri represents a promising step towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. This research underscores the importance of leveraging technology to address pressing societal challenges and highlights the positive socioeconomic impacts that innovative transportation solutions can bring to developing countries like Uganda. The urgency for early detection technologies to mitigate crop losses is more crucial than ever. In response, our AI model employs advanced deep learning algorithms, trained on an extensive dataset of leaf images covering a diverse range of diseases, highlighting the approach to tackling the identified problem. The capability of our system to precisely recognize disease symptoms in plants has undergone rigorous testing, yielding a high success rate in disease identification, which constitutes our key findings.Anand, R., Mishra, R.K. and Khan, R. (2022) The implementation phase involved developing a user-friendly application, making the technology accessible to farmers and enabling early disease detection to improve crop management and production. This operational approach emphasizes the practical application and field usability of our system. The successful outcomes of the project not only underscore the AI system's effectiveness in identifying plant diseases but also underscore its significant potential to revolutionize agricultural practices by democratizing access to advanced diagnostic tools. This web-based platform serves as a conduit for sharing best practices, advanced farming techniques, and practical knowledge through an interactive and user-friendly interface. The project's cornerstone is the creation of a digital community where users can book farm tours, access a wealth of educational resources, and engage in real-time discussions with experienced model farm managers. Agrogetaway addresses the critical challenge of improving agricultural produce quality in Uganda, which directly impacts the nation's competitiveness in the global market and its food security. By connecting users with model farmers and providing a repository of multimedia educational content, the platform fosters a collaborative environment for learning and growth. The project also introduces a novel feature, 'Communities,' structured around model farmers, where users can subscribe for exclusive insights and direct mentorship. The platform's development followed a mixed-methods approach, incorporating both qualitative and quantitative research to ensure comprehensive user-centric design and functionality. Evaluations indicate user satisfaction and a gradual increase in engagement, although challenges such as a lack of scientific depth and device compatibility were identified. Recommendations for future enhancements include infrastructure improvements, user education programs, and advanced security measures. Agrogetaway's vision is to empower farmers with the knowledge and tools necessary to enhance productivity and sustainability, ultimately contributing to the advancement of the agricultural sector. The project's ongoing development and research aim to expand its reach, improve user experience, and solidify its position as an indispensable resource for modern agriculture.Item A Sacco Loan Management System: The Case Study of Kisoboka Farmer’s Sacco Ltd(Uganda Christian University, 2024-05-27) Getrude Adrupio; Kevin Taimwa; Priscillar NakintuThe SACCO Loan Management Information System is a computerized database of financial information organized and programmed in such a way that it produces regular reports on operations for every level of management in a SACCO; it is usually also possible to obtain special reports from the system easily. The general objective of the study was to design a loan management information system that could improve loan record handling and bring about timely Loan processing. The study's specific objectives of study were to investigate and gather data about the existing manual system being used at Kisoboka Farmers SACCO Ltd, analyze the requirements for the new system. Develop a loan management information system for Kisoboka Farmers' SACCO Ltd, and test and implement the new system. After gathering the requirements, entity relation diagrams and data flow diagrams were used to design the loan management information system. Microsoft Visual Basic 2005.net was used to create user interfaces and Microsoft Access was used to create the database. The SACCO loan management information system developed authenticates System users and enables them to capture and store loan records and client banking records, the system allows the users to view loan reports and Client payment records, also the system calculates payment denominations for loans [1]. The SACCO loan management information system reduces the burden of over-compiling papers and the need for more shelves which reduces congestion in Kisoboka Farmers' Sacco Ltd [2].Item Justice Connect Project(Uganda Christian University, 2024-05-29) Garvin Eric Jjuuko; Crystal Nimaro-Kilibo; Abigail Agnes Mulungi; Suzan KarungaJ-Connect is a web application designed to address the pressing issue of domestic violence in our society Mukono, Uganda. The platform aims to empower victims of domestic violence by providing them with convenient and affordable access to legal support. Specifically tailored to the needs of those affected by domestic abuse, J-Connect serves as a vital link between victims, particularly women, and qualified legal professionals in the country. Through our innovative consultation platform, users can easily seek advice from lawyers anonymously offering both pro bono and commercial legal aid support. Moreover, J-Connect goes beyond consultation by enabling users to select representation through a user-friendly interface, thereby promoting access to justice and advancing the objectives of SDG 16. The platform addresses the challenges of limited veterinary infrastructure, geographical barriers, and the high cost of animal healthcare by providing an easy-to-use digital solution. Through Vetco, farmers can schedule appointments with certified veterinarians, access educational resources, and receive real-time guidance on animal health and farm management. The system incorporates a user-friendly interface, secure authentication, and integrated notifications to ensure timely and efficient service delivery. By bridging the gap between veterinarians and livestock keepers, Vetco aims to improve animal welfare, boost productivity, and support sustainable livestock farming across underserved communities.Item Vibes Allied Events Management System(Uganda Christian University, 2025-05-11) Elvis Walera; Kahwa Ayebale; Agness AgayaProblem: Missed event opportunities for social interactions and engagements. The Vibes Allied events management system establishes new ways for users to find and attend community-based events. The system emerged to satisfy the rising requirement of an inclusive platform which provides users with ongoing event updates alongside support for introverts and individuals with social anxiety alongside people with cultural or language limitations and event-unaware members of the community. The system contains two key user interfaces. One interface supports individuals to explore events through search features and receive customized updates while the other interface enables event producers to optimize their event management. Vibes Allied achieves accessibility and usability through a platform designed for delivering real-time event information between event organizers and potential audiences. The research traces development stages of the system starting from background information and methodology while presenting system architecture and user feedback analysis. The experimental findings show that Vibes Allied has the capability to improve event search systems through its inclusive and interactive interface that prioritizes user experience.Item Medi_Link: A Digital Health Platform Enhancing Maternal Care in Rural Uganda(2025-05-12) BALIGEYA DEOGRATIUS; JANE SANDE EVANSMedi_Link is a digital health platform developed to improve maternal health in rural Uganda by addressing challenges such as poor healthcare access, infrastructure limitations, and shortages of skilled professionals. Key features include virtual consultations, personalized health tips, emergency first aid guidance, and digital medical records. Built with technologies like React, Vite, and TypeScript, it supports low-bandwidth and offline use to suit rural conditions. The platform promotes remote care, continuity in maternal health, and aims to reduce maternal mortality and improve healthcare experiences for mothers and children.Item Final Year Project Report(2025-05-14) Musiimire EmillyThis report presents Phalanx, a web based Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) developed to provide real-time detection and prevention of network intrusions. Phalanx IPS is a highly intelligent, web-based security system developed to reinforce network protection through automated identification and blocking of cyber attacks. Phalanx IPS is for the Information Systems (UCU UIS) at Uganda Christian University to counteract the inadequacies of traditional firewall and open-source systems that present complicated setups and manual controls. The framework combines real-time packet analysis, Snort-based signature and anomaly detection, and automated response mechanisms via ip_tables. It features a user-friendly web console for monitoring, managing rules, reporting, and prevention. Phalanx facilitates security efficacy with minimal human intervention and responding in real-time to the threat. Utilizing a structured SDLC process, the solution has been tested and deployed in a production network environment. It is a scalable and proactive solution to the security problems of the present day. This report details the design, development, and deployment of the system, showcasing how Phalanx addresses the need for advanced, web based intrusion prevention solutions in modern network security.Item Attend Sure :Revolutionizing Students' Engagement with Attendance Tracking In Education(Uganda Christian University, 2025-05-14) BUSHENYULA SHEBAKANGA THEOPHILE; KALETE LYTON; MAYIKA KOLONGO GRADYMany higher education institutions continue to rely on manual methods for tracking student attendance, methods that are time-consuming, error-prone, and vulnerable to manipulation. At Uganda Christian University, for example, 75% of student failures are attributed to poor attendance, while 80% of students report a lack of academic motivation. These inefficiencies not only compromise academic record accuracy but also reduce administrative productivity. This report presents Attend Sure, a location-aware digital attendance management system designed to address these challenges through automation and geofencing technology. The system verifies student presence within a designated geographic boundary (e.g., N Block or Nkoyoyo Hall) before allowing them to check in via a secure mobile interface. To ensure robust development, the project undertook a comprehensive system analysis and design process, including the identification of functional and non-functional requirements, process modeling using data flow and sequence diagrams, and database design through an Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD). The system backend is built using MongoDB, a flexible and scalable NoSQL database optimized for real-time data storage and retrieval. Attend Sure offers distinct user interfaces for administrators, lecturers, and students, supporting efficient role-based access and functionality. Recognizing the challenges of unreliable transportation and the need for enhanced security and product integrity, FarmConnect initially focused on real-time driver tracking. This report outlines the project lifecycle, development process, and critically, proposes future enhancements to address feedback regarding cargo security, product quality assurance, and theft prevention, aiming to create a more trustworthy and efficient agricultural supply chain.Item ATTENDANCE TRACKING SYSTEM MOBILE APPLICATION THAT USES BLUETOOTH SENSING TECHNOLOGY(Uganda Christian University, 2025-05-27) CODE HUBThis project focuses on the development of a mobile-based Attendance Tracking System using Bluetooth sensing technology to automate and streamline attendance recording. The system detects Bluetooth-enabled devices within a set range and automatically marks attendance when a registered user is nearby. It is developed using React Native, Bluetooth Low Energy API, FireBase Django , Node Js, Firestore, and Firebase], the app includes key features such as real-time tracking, automatic check-in/out, and an admin dashboard for record management. This method reduces manual errors, saves time, and prevents proxy attendance. Testing showed reliable performance and efficient data handling, proving it to be a practical solution for institutions and workplaces.
