As cyber threats increase and more sensitive data is exchanged online, safeguarding the privacy, integrity, and authenticity of digital communications is crucial. The project employs AES, a renowned symmetric key encryption method, to safeguard data from unauthorized access both in transit and storage. The AES algorithm, specifically the 256-bit version, is selected for its blend of high security and computational efficiency. This makes it ideal for securing sensitive communications, from personal exchanges to corporate and military contexts. The system works by converting plaintext information, such as messages or files, into cipher text before transmission, ensuring it is unreadable by unauthorized users. The recipient then uses the same key to decrypt the data and recover the original information. The system design integrates several essential security elements, such as: Key Generation and Management: The system securely generates and distributes encryption keys, with regular rotation to mitigate cryptographic vulnerabilities. User Authentication: Only authenticated users can access encrypted or decrypted information, supported by strong authentication mechanisms. Data Integrity: Techniques are implemented to ensure that transmitted data remains unaltered during transmission. Real-Time Secure Communication: The system enables real-time encryption and decryption for communication across networks like LAN and the internet, using socket programming to securely transfer data between devices. This project aims to showcase the practical application of AES encryption in securing real-world communications. A user-friendly interface is provided for managing encryption and decryption activities, supporting key updates, access to encrypted/decrypted data, and integrity checks. The system is also scalable, making it suitable for both personal and large-scale organizational use. Throughout its development, the project addresses common challenges in encryption systems, including key management, balancing encryption performance, and maintaining compatibility with existing communication systems. Ultimately, this project delivers a secure and efficient solution for protecting sensitive data transmissions in today’s digital landscape. Keywords: AES encryption, secure communication, data protection, cryptography, symmetric encryption, key management, cyber security, network security.Item ICT Project Management System(IPMS)(Uganda Christian University, 2024-10-01) Kyatuhire ShilahThis report is all about an internship exercise carried out at National ICT Innovation Hub that lasted for the period of 10 weeks as summarized below. Citizens must physically visit police stations to report crimes, leading to long queues, delays in filing reports, and sometimes even discouraging individuals from reporting crimes altogether. This manual system also poses challenges for police officers in managing and processing crime reports, often leading to backlogs and reduced effectiveness in responding to criminal activities. With the rise in crime rates and the increasing need for timely and accurate crime data, there is a pressing need for an Online Crime Reporting Management System. Such a system would streamline the process of reporting crimes, making it more accessible for citizens and more efficient for law enforcement agencies. An Online Crime Reporting Management System is a digital platform that enables citizens to report crimes via the internet. It allows for real-time submission of crime reports, which can include detailed descriptions, evidence such as photos or videos, and the location of the incident. This system would also facilitate the tracking of the status of reported crimes, providing transparency and updates to the complainants. According to studies by Lee and Park (2020), implementing an online crime reporting system can significantly improve public safety by enhancing the speed and accuracy of crime data collection, thus enabling law enforcement agencies to respond more swiftly and effectively. Additionally, such a system would alleviate the congestion and delays currently experienced at physical police stations, allowing police officers to focus more on crime prevention and investigationItem ONLINE FOOD WASTE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM(2024-10-02) oketcho SolomonOnline Food waste management has become an increasingly critical issue worldwide. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO, 2011), approximately one-third of the food produced for human consumption is lost or wasted globally, amounting to about 1.3 billion tons per year. This waste occurs throughout the food supply chain, from initial agricultural production down to final household consumption. Effective food waste management is crucial not only for reducing environmental impacts, such as greenhouse gas emissions from landfills but also for addressing food insecurity and improving resource efficiency. In recent years, various strategies have been implemented to mitigate food waste, including food donation programs, improved supply chain logistics, and consumer education campaigns. Technological advancements, such as smart packaging and waste-to-energy technologies, also offer promising solutions (Parfitt, Barthel, & Macnaughton, 2010). Despite these efforts, the problem persists, indicating a need for more integrated and innovative approaches to food waste management.Item SALON MANAGEMENT SYSTEM(2024-10-01) KULUME AGNESABSTRACT The Unisex Salon in Mbale City, a popular destination offering a wide range of services including haircuts, styling, coloring, and spa treatments, is facing challenges in managing its daily operations due to an increasing number of clients. The current manual system for handling appointments, staff schedules, inventory, and client records is inefficient, leading to frequent errors such as missed appointments, double bookings, and inventory shortages. These issues result in reduced productivity, customer dissatisfaction, and financial losses. To address these challenges, this project proposes the development of a web-based Salon Management System specifically tailored for the salon in Mbale City. The system aims to automate and streamline various salon operations, including appointment scheduling, staff management, inventory tracking, and client record management. By replacing the manual processes with a digital platform, the system will reduce human error, improve operational efficiency, and enhance the overall customer experience. The proposed system will allow customers to book appointments online, reducing wait times and ensuring that their preferred stylists are available at the desired time. It will also provide the salon staff with an easy-to-use interface to manage their schedules, track inventory levels, and access client information quickly and accurately. Moreover, the system will generate detailed reports to help the salon management make informed decisions and optimize business operations. Implementing this Salon Management System will not only improve the efficiency and accuracy of the salon's daily operations but also position the salon as a modern, tech-savvy business in the competitive market of Mbale City. The project’s success will be measured by increased customer satisfaction, higher staff productivity, and enhanced revenue growth.Item Students’ Complaint Management System: Case Study Bbuc Faculty of Engineering, Design and Technology(Uganda Christian University, 2024) Collins ArikyoStudent’s complaint management system (SCMS) is a web-based platform that allows students to submit complaints and get feedback regarding various aspects of their educational experience, such as course content, faculty behavior, issues with semester results, or administrative issues. The system may also allow students to track the status of their complaints and receive updates on any actions taken. The goal of a web-based student complaint system is to provide students with a convenient and efficient way to voice their concerns and ensure that their complaints are addressed in a timely and appropriate manner. It can also help educational institutions to identify and address areas for improvement and enhance the overall student experience. Complaints are important drivers for improvement in service delivery for any enterprise. Like other types of customers, students also complain. Students’ complaints may result from actions of University/College management or government policy and regulations. However, to what extent all Universities/Colleges are effective or ineffective in managing these complaints is still a big challenge. The study implies that the Colleges should take complaints as an opportunity to improve their daily operations which will resolve hidden issues that were not known.Item TENANT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM - BUGISU COOPERATIVE UNION (MBALE)(2024-10-01) ISEERA COHENFirst and foremost I would like to thank the Almighty God who has provided me with the energy, time and wisdom, protection, favor with life to write and compile this report besides some challenges of I have uncounted in person.
