Item APPRAISAL METHODS AND EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE IN LOCAL GOVERNMENTS.A CASE STUDY OF KIBUKU DISTRICT(2024-08-31) MUDONDO MARTINAThis study examined the relationship between appraisal methods and employee performance within local governments, specifically at Kibuku district Local Government. The research aimed to assess how recognition, promotion, and delegation impacted employee performance among employees. With a population of 40 and a sample size of 36 respondents chosen using the Morgan Table, the study found that recognition positively correlated with employee performance, with 75% of respondents reporting its significant influence, though only 55% felt that current practices were consistent and meaningful. Promotion also affected employee performance, as 60% of respondents indicated that promotions influenced their motivation; however, 50% expressed concerns about fairness and transparency. Delegation showed varied effects, with 65% of employees feeling empowered by delegated tasks, while 40% reported added stress. The study concluded that recognition, promotion, and delegation were crucial for employee performance but needed to be integrated with other factors. It recommended improving recognition practices for consistency, ensuring fairness in promotions, and tailoring delegation strategies to individual needs to enhance overall employee satisfaction.Item EMPLOYEE SATISFACTION AND ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE A CASE STUDY OF MBALE CITY COUNCIL(2024-11-04) ADIKIN PATIENCEABSTRACT This study aimed to establish the relationship between employee satisfaction and organizational performance in Mbale City Council, employing a cross-sectional survey design. The specific objectives were to assess how employee satisfaction enhances organizational performance, examine the role of motivation in facilitating employee performance, and establish the relationship between employee satisfaction and organizational performance. The study involved a population of 45 respondents, with a sample size of 40 participants. Findings revealed significant relationships between employee satisfaction and organizational performance; specifically, higher levels of employee satisfaction correlated positively with improved organizational performance indicators such as productivity and job satisfaction (r = 0.75, p < 0.001). The study concluded that enhancing employee satisfaction through effective motivation strategies can significantly influence organizational performance. Recommendations included implementing tailored motivation programs and fostering a supportive work environment to sustain high levels of employee satisfaction and optimize organizational outcomes within Mbale City Council.Item SUCCESSION PLANNING AND EMPLOYEE RETENTION IN LOCAL GOVERNMENTS.A CASE STUDY OF MBALE DISTRICT LOCAL GOVERNMENT.(2024-08-29) MABONGA GEOFREYABSTRACT This study investigates the effect of succession planning on employee retention in local governments, focusing on Mbale district local Government. Guided by three objectives, the research examines the influence of organizational targets, current human resource capacity analysis, and manpower forecasts. Utilizing a descriptive research design, data was collected from a sample size of 40 out of 45 individuals through questionnaires, interview guides, and documentary reviews. Findings reveal a significant relationship between organizational targets and employee retention, emphasizing the importance of strategic planning. Moreover, the study underscores the impact of current human resource capacity analysis and manpower forecasts on employee retention. In conclusion, effective succession planning is vital for enhancing employee retention in the district industry, emphasizing the need for strategic human resource management practices to achieve organizational objectives and ensure employee satisfaction and productivity.Item TRAINING PROGRAMS AND EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE IN PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS.A CASE OF MBALE DISTRICT LOCAL GOVERNMENT(2024-08-31) TUMWA CIRUSABSTRACT The study examined the relationship between training programs and employee performance iin Mbale district Local Government Local Government. The objectives that guided the study were; analyzing the relationship between training content, training materials and training methods and employee performance in Mbale district Local Government Local Government in terms of efficiency and effectiveness. The study used a cross sectional survey research design using both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The target population was 176 respondents and the sampling techniques were: simple random sampling and purposive sampling. The questionnaire, interview and documentary review methods were used to collect data. The data collected was analyzed using Pearson’s co-relation co-efficient techniques. According to the study findings, there was a positive relationship between training content and employee performance, there was a positive relationship between training materials and employee performance and there was a positive relationship between training methods and employee performance. The researcher concluded that training content, training materials and training methods have a positive relationship with employee performance. Recommendations of the study were; training needs, materials and methods should be identified at the confluence of the direction in which the Government intends to move, the changes in technology that are occurring, and the career paths employees could be pursuing. The study therefore proposes further research should be conducted on the relationship between reward management and employee performance as well as the impact of resource allocation to capacity building and employee performance
