dc.description.abstractDrug use by young people is a major problem facing the world today. Understanding young people's perspectives on drug use. This study was conducted in the Adjumani town Council area in Adjumani District, Uganda. Participants included 12 men and 4 young women aged between 13 and 22. A good research design was adopted. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, surveys and observations. The study found that drugs abused by participants included alcohol, nicotine, khat 'Mairungi', cannabis and Marijuana , with central village in Adjumani town council being the most affected area. Motivations for using these medications include,pears pressure , personal, family, and environmental factors. However, peer group pressure is considered a cause of drug addiction among young people. This study shows the negative situation of drug use among young people, but also completes the case that can be used to solve the problem of drug addiction in teenage boys and girls. Additionally, this study recommends that all stakeholders work together to solve the drug problem.
