T This study was conducted to explore the effects of domestic violence on the health and well-being of women in Soroti District. The specific objectives were to establish the types of domestic violence experienced by women, identify the causes, and determine ways to stop domestic violence in the district. Employing a mixed-methods approach, the study surveyed a population of 75 women, with a sample size of 63 participants. The findings revealed that 72% of women experienced physical violence, 56% emotional violence, and 38% economic violence. The study also found that alcohol abuse (68%) and cultural norms (52%) were primary causes of domestic violence. In terms of interventions, 60% of respondents suggested community sensitization as a key strategy to reduce domestic violence. The study concludes that domestic violence significantly impacts women's health and well-being, leading to physical injuries, psychological distress, and social isolation. It also concludes that addressing the root causes, such as alcohol abuse and harmful cultural practices, is crucial in mitigating domestic violence. The study recommends strengthening community awareness programs and providing support services for affected women. Additionally, it recommends the implementation of stricter legal measures to protect women from domestic violence.
