T The study aimed to assess the influence of parenting styles on youth behavior in Industrial Division, Mbale City. The specific objectives were to determine the influence of authoritarian parenting style on youth behavior, evaluate the effect of permissive parenting style, and explore the role of neglectful parenting style in shaping youth behavior within this context. The research utilized a population of 45 and a sample size of 40 respondents, selected based on Morgan‟s (1970) sampling table. The findings revealed that the authoritarian parenting style, while promoting discipline, had a minimal effect on youth behavior as indicated by a weak correlation in the regression analysis. The study recommends that parents using an authoritarian style should consider balancing strictness with warmth to mitigate potential negative effects on youth behavior. The permissive parenting style was associated with a slight impact on youth behavior, evidenced by a weak but present correlation. It is recommended that parents employing permissive strategies establish clearer boundaries to improve youth decision-making and self-discipline. Neglectful parenting showed a statistically significant yet modest influence, suggesting its potential role in shaping youth behavior. The study recommends increased parental involvement and emotional support to address the negative outcomes associated with neglectful parenting. Overall, the study concluded that while parenting styles do have some effect, they are not the sole determinants of youth behavior, and other contributing factors should be considered in future research.
