Abstract
The study focused on designing and developing a Google Map-Based Donation Management System to enhance the efficiency, transparency, and accountability of charitable donations at the Uganda Red Cross Kabale Center. The research was motivated by the challenges in traditional donation management systems, such as manual coordination, delayed resource distribution, and the absence of real-time tracking. A mixed-methods approach was adopted, combining qualitative and quantitative techniques to analyze existing systems and user requirements. The system was developed using an iterative Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) model, employing technologies such as Google Maps API, PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The system’s key features include donor registration, location-based donation tracking, real-time notifications, scheduling of donations, and report generation. Findings revealed that integrating Google Maps into donation management significantly improves resource allocation, communication, and responsiveness during humanitarian operations. The system provides a reliable platform that links donors and beneficiaries in real time, reduces inefficiencies in donation distribution, and strengthens transparency and donor confidence. It is recommended that the Uganda Red Cross and similar organizations adopt this system to enhance their operational effectiveness and promote data-driven decision-making in disaster relief and humanitarian response.
