Abstract

ABSTRACT This dissertation aims to evaluate the role of information technology (IT) in enhancing internal controls in banks, with a specific focus on Absa Bank Uganda. The study employs a comparative case study approach to explore the benefits, limitations, challenges, risks, and effectiveness of technology-based internal control systems in the banking industry. The research utilizes a combination of quantitative and qualitative data collection methods, including surveys/questionnaires, interviews, and open-ended survey questions, to gather insights from employees and key personnel at Absa Bank Uganda. The findings from this research will provide valuable insights for banks and organizations looking to leverage IT to enhance their internal control systems.
