Abstract
This study examined the role of priests in the growth of children ministry at St. Stephen’s Church of Uganda Nsambya, Diocese of Kampala. The objectives of the study were; to establish the role of priests in the growth of children ministry at St. Stephen’s Church of Uganda
Nsambya, to assess the challenges faced by children ministry at St. Stephen’s Church of Uganda Nsambya, and to examine what priests are doing to address the challenges faced by children ministry at St. Stephen’s Church of Uganda Nsambya. A descriptive survey design but cross
sectional in nature, using a sample size of 36 participants was adopted. Simple random sampling and purposive sampling techniques were used to select the respondents and data was collected using well designed structured questionnaire. Findings revealed that Priests create an atmosphere that enables children to learn more about Jesus and 91.6% of the respondents strongly agreed on the claim. It was also established that limited financial resources is one of the challenges faced by children ministry at St. Stephen’s Church of Uganda Nsambya and 80.5% of the respondents strongly agreed on the claim. In addition, findings revealed that helping children get connected to godly, caring adults in the congregation is what priests are doing to address the challenges faced by children ministry at St. Stephen’s Church of Uganda Nsambya and 88.8% of the respondents strongly agreed on the claim. In conclusion, the findings of the study indicated that Priests create
an atmosphere that will attract the children to learn more about Jesus. Limited financial resources is one of the challenges faced by children ministry at St. Stephen’s Church of Uganda Nsambya.
In addition, the findings also indicated that helping children get connected to godly, caring adults in the congregation is what priests are doing to address the challenges faced by children ministry at St. Stephen’s Church of Uganda Nsambya. The study recommends that Priests should
continue to focus on creating an engaging atmosphere for children to learn about Jesus and emphasize diligence in missionary work. The study also recommends that St. Stephen’s Church of Uganda Nsambya should address the challenges of limited financial resources and irregular
attendance by implementing strategies to improve financial support and enhance children's engagement and attendance in the ministry. In addition, priests at St. Stephen’s Church of Uganda Nsambya are encouraged to continue their efforts to connect children with godly, caring
