Item A Study of Church Intervention in the Lives of the Children of Separated Parents: A Case of Paidha Parish, Nebbi Diocese of the Church of Uganda(Uganda Christian University, 2025-09-05) Walter CwinyaaiParental separation and divorce have become increasingly common in today’s society, affecting millions of children worldwide. A descriptive study was carried out in Zombo district with the aim of establishing Church intervention in the lives of children of separated parents in Paidha Parish, Nebbi Diocese. Data was collected by use of questionnaires to gather empirical data. The findings revealed that the children of separated parents in Paidha parish face a number of challenges including: lack of basic needs, lack of parental love and anger, anxiety and emotional stress, poor performance in academics, depressive symptoms, poor health and malnutrition, low self-esteem, conduct problems, lack of parental care and guidance. The church is focusing on teaching the principles of safety and welfare of children affected by separation of parents, providing counselling services for separated parents to bring them together, offering prayer and support to children of separated parents and providing mentorship programs for skilling of affected children. The respondents suggested that the church should create supportive environment for children affected by the separation of their parents, have active programs such as care for kids of the divorced, active outreach and home visits for families, pastoral and emotional support for the affected children, encouraging heathy communication while allowing Bible-based healing through Bible study. All these would enable the church to grow strong, united, with godly instruction from every home, having holistic integration of faith and the homes would be transformed into little gospel outposts. The study recommended that the church should offer a Christian perspective that acknowledges and addresses the pain of separation, while providing a path toward healing by demonstrating healthy relationships and communication within the church community.Item Infant Baptism: Upholding Its Practice in the Province of the Church of Uganda(Uganda Christian University, 2025-09-15) Mark InuaThis paper examines and upholds infant baptism in the Church of Uganda within its biblical, historical, theological, and pastoral context. It considers scriptural foundations such as cir-cumcision and baptism, covenant promises, household baptisms, and Jesus’ welcome of chil-dren. It also surveys early Church history, showing that infant baptism was practiced and af-firmed by figures like Irenaeus, Origen, Hippolytus, and the Council of Carthage. The study engages objections from biblical interpretation, history, and theology, including concerns about personal faith and freedom of choice. In response, it argues that baptism signifies God’s covenantal grace rather than human decision, and that including children in the Church’s sacramental life reflects Scripture and tradition. Highlighting theological, pastoral, and missionary dimensions, the paper concludes that infant baptism remains both valid and essential to the life and witness of the Church of UgandaItem Identifying the Challenges That Christian Families Face in Kigaaya Parish-bunyoro Kitara Diocese(Uganda Christian University, 2025-08-08) Moses MpeebwaThis study investigates the challenges faced by Christian families in Kigaaya Parish, Bunyoro Kitara Diocese, Uganda, with the aim of identifying key issues, their causes, and potential solutions through church intervention. The research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing interviews and questionnaires to gather data from married Christian couples, church leaders, and lay readers. Findings reveal that the primary challenges include unfaithfulness, poverty, lack of transparency, poor communication, domestic violence, and neglect of family responsibilities. Unfaithfulness, particularly among men, leads to family abandonment and financial neglect, while poverty exacerbates conflicts over resource allocation. A lack of open communication and financial transparency further strains marital relationships. Additionally, insufficient time dedicated to family bonding and parenting results in weak spiritual and moral foundations for children. Domestic violence, predominantly against women, further destabilizes families, leading to emotional and psychological distress. The study concludes that weak pre-marital counseling, poor post-marital support, and inadequate biblical teachings on family life contribute to these challenges. Recommendations include strengthening pre- and post-marital counseling programs, conducting regular family seminars, and integrating targeted sermons on Christian family values. Furthermore, economic empowerment initiatives are suggested to alleviate poverty-related conflicts. By addressing these issues, the church can play a pivotal role in fostering stable, God-centered families, thereby enhancing both individual households and the broader Christian community in Kigaaya Parish.Item The Youth Ministry and Anglican Church Development in Rubaare Archdeaconry, South Ankole Diocese Province of Uganda(Uganda Christian University, 2025-08-14) Evan MuhanguziThe study was conducted to assess the role of the youth ministry in the development of the Anglican Church in Rubaare Archdeaconry, South Ankole Diocese. Guided by three specific objectives—to analyze the contributions of youth ministry to church growth, identify the challenges hindering its effectiveness, and propose practical strategies for enhancing youth engagement—the research adopted a descriptive design and employed both qualitative and quantitative methods. A total of 52 respondents were sampled from various church roles to provide diverse perspectives. The findings revealed that youth ministry significantly contributes to the church's spiritual, social, and structural development through active involvement in evangelism, worship leadership, community service, and outreach programs. However, the effectiveness of youth ministry is constrained by limited financial support, lack of mentorship, exclusion from leadership structures, and intergenerational misunderstandings. The study proposed several strategies to enhance youth engagement, including mentorship programs, financial empowerment, youth inclusion in leadership, and the promotion of creative and digital ministries. The study concluded that youth ministry is a vital force in church development and sustainability, and its full potential can only be realized when young people are not only seen as future leaders but also empowered as active participants in the church’s current mission. It recommended intentional mentorship, inclusion in decision-making, and structured support systems to strengthen youth contributions to the holistic growth of the church.Item The Influence of Music on the Church Worship in North West Ankole Diocese(Uganda Christian University, 2025-10-13) Joshua AkampuriraThe study aimed at exploring the influence of music on the church worship in North West Ankole Diocese. The study employed a descriptive research design. The study concluded that music has a great influence on the church worship in North West Ankole Diocese. The Church music department should be given adequate resources to effectively and timely buy the modern musical instruments. There is need for participatory budgeting and planning so as to have enough budgets for the purchase of planned instruments, and motivating the music leaders. This should be done alongside Clergy supervision and direct involvement to make sure that there is value for money within Church; and areas of further research were suggested.Item The Authority and Inspiration of Scripture in Christian Ministry:A Reference Study of 2 Timothy 3:16 and Its Implications for Effective Preaching in the Dioces of Lango(Uganada Christian University, 2025-09-01) Isaac Ekwar SolomonThis research project explores the authority and inspiration of Scripture as articulated in 2 Timothy 3:16, with specific application to the Diocese of Lango in northern Uganda. The study investigates how biblical authority is understood, interpreted, and applied in pastoral ministry and church life within this local context. Drawing upon biblical exegesis, theological reflection, and contemporary scholarship, the study critically engages with the Pauline understanding of inspiration — theopneustos (God-breathed) and its implications for doctrine, preaching, moral teaching, and ecclesiastical governance. The research further identifies cultural, social, and political dynamics that influence how Scripture is received and practiced in Lango. These include oral traditions, community leadership structures, and post-colonial influences on church identity. The findings demonstrate both the richness and the challenges of upholding Scripture as the ultimate authority in an increasingly pluralistic society. This study contributes to the wider Anglican theological discourse on biblical authority, and offers contextual recommendations for strengthening scriptural literacy, theological education, and doctrinal fidelity in the Diocese of Lango.Item Assess the Effectiveness of Roles of the Church Participation in Social-Economic Transformation of Society, Case of St. John Butebo Church of Uganda, Butebo Parish, Butebo Archdeaconry, Bukedi Diocese(Uganda christian university, 2025-09-04) Samuel KamugoFor several centuries, the church has occupied and played a central role in shaping the different dimensions (political, social and economic spheres) of societies (OI’ga. Balabeikira.Dmitriev.And Solodyankina. 2022). Where the church has intentionally or unintentionally ignored its participation in society affairs, the societies have suffered. This research therefore sought to assess the effective roles played by the Church in fostering social-economic transformation in society with a specific focus on St. John Butebo church of Uganda, Butebo Parish, Butebo Archdeaconry in Bukedi Diocese. These will enhance the church’s roles in transforming people's lives economically and socially while remaining spiritually sound. Using a mixed method approach, the study collected data through interviews, questionnaires, observations and data analysis to assess the church’s efforts in these dimensions, the study's results will then inform the church's policies and practices, and provide insights for other religious institutions, policymakers, and development stake holders striving to promote and strengthen faith-based interventions in social-economic transformation.Item The Implications of the Trinity on One's Relationship With God and Fellow Human Beings in St. Andrew’s Cathedral, Muhabura Diocese (2010-2025)(Uganda Christian University, 2025-09-04) Aggrey MugaruraThis dissertation investigates the theological implications of the doctrine of the Trinity on the personal faith and communal relationships of congregants at St. Andrew’s Cathedral, Muhabura Diocese, from 2010 to 2025. The study is situated within a context of historical church conflict, making the exploration of a relational God particularly relevant for healing and unity. The research employed a qualitative methodology, utilizing surveys, interviews, and theological literature review to gather data from a diverse demographic within the cathedral community. The central findings reveal that a robust understanding of the Trinity as one God in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—profoundly enhances believers' relationships with God. This understanding fosters a deeper sense of divine closeness, security in faith, and a comprehensive prayer life directed to all three persons of the Godhead. Furthermore, the study demonstrates that the Trinity provides an essential theological model for human relationships. The perfect unity, mutual love, and self-giving communion within the Godhead serve as a paradigm for Christian community. Believers reported that this doctrine directly inspires them to pursue unity, practice radical forgiveness, extend kindness, and engage in collaborative service within their church and wider community. The relational nature of God, therefore, translates into practical ethics, shaping a communal ethos that values diversity within unity, mirroring the divine perichoresis. The dissertation concludes that the doctrine of the Trinity is not an abstract theological concept but a vital framework for transformative spiritual and social practice. It is foundational for nurturing a vibrant, reconciled, and loving community, especially in a post-conflict context. Recommendations include implementing targeted educational programs to deepen Trinitarian understanding and promoting community initiatives that embody the relational principles of unity and love found in the Triune God.Item Church’s Response to the Challenges Faced by Children Hailing From Broken Marriages in Vurra Archdeaconary, Diocese of Madi West Nile: Case Study of Five Churches(Uganda Christian University, 2025-08-29) Eric MadiraThis study was conducted to examine churches response to challenges faced by children hailing in broken marriages. (2013), Qualitative research is a type of research that focuses on exploring and understanding the meaning, experiences, and perspectives of individuals or groups1 The study revealed that in Alere Parish, the church utilized diverse strategies, such as Sunday School with age-appropriate lessons, storytelling, music, drama, and visual aids, to engage children and foster moral and spiritual growth. Programs like Children’s Day, monthly fellowships, bi-weekly meetings, and baptism/confirmation classes provide structured platforms for learning and community building. Parents were encouraged through seminars to be primary spiritual nurturers, aligning with Ephesians 6:4. Initiatives like Bible distribution and children’s choirs enhance Scripture access and faith expression. However, challenges include inadequate age-appropriate teaching materials, leading to reduced engagement when adult content is used.Item The Role of Godparents in Educating Children for Holistic Growth; a Study of Nyarhodho Parish, Diocese of Nebbi(Uganda Christian University, 2025-10-06) Eric EgatiThis study investigated the role of godparents in educating children for holistic growth and development in Nyarwodho Parish, Goli Central Archdeaconry, and Nebbi Diocese. The objectives of the study were, to examine the current practices of godparents in educating children for holistic growth and development at Nyarwodho Parish, Nebbi Diocese. To identify the challenges or problems that hinder effective god parenting in promoting holistic child development. To explore the strategies employed by the church to address the challenges faced by godparents in fulfilling their roles. The research was guided by the concern that, while godparents are chosen during baptism to accompany children in the Christian journey, their roles are often reduced to ceremonial participation with little follow up. The study adopted a qualitative research approach, using interviews, focus group discussions, and observations with godparents, parents, clergy, and educators. The findings revealed that godparents play a significant role in spiritual mentorship, nurturing children in prayer, Christian values, and participation in church life. They also contribute to moral and social development by serving as role models, advisors, and mediators, while offering educational encouragement and monitoring children’s academic progress. Furthermore, godparents provide emotional and psychological support, serving as confidants and companions in times of need. However, the study also identified challenges including limited understanding of god parental responsibilities, financial constraints, geographical distance, and lack of structured church guidance after baptism. The study concluded that god parenthood was a lifelong vocation of discipleship and stewardship, essential for the holistic development of children. It recommends that godparents embrace their role with commitment, parents collaborate with them in nurturing children, and the Church provide continuous training and recognition for godparents beyond baptism. Strengthening the vocation of godparent hood will enable the Church and community to raise children who are spiritually grounded, morally upright, socially responsible, emotionally resilient, and educationally empowered.Item AN EXAMINATION OF THE ROLE OF FAMILIES IN FAITH FORMATION IN KALIRO PARISH, KALIRO ARCHDEACONRY, CENTRAL BUSOGA DIOCESE OF THE PROVINCE OF THE CHURCH OF UGANDA(Uganda Christian University, 2025-09-05) MUWEREZA MICHEALThis study examined the significant role of families in the faith formation of individuals within Kaliro Parish, Kaliro Archdeaconry, Central Busoga Diocese, Church of Uganda. Faith formation is a vital component of spiritual growth and development, and the family, as the primary social unit, serves as the foundational environment where Christian beliefs, values, and practices are first introduced and nurtured. The research explored how families contribute to the spiritual upbringing of children and youth, the challenges they encounter in this responsibility, and the strategies used to strengthen the transmission of faith across generations. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining qualitative data collected through interviews and focus group discussions with quantitative data obtained from surveys administered to parish members. The findings revealed that families remain central to faith formation, acting as the first teachers of Christian doctrines and moral values, while the Church plays a complementary role through formal catechesis and communal worship. Nonetheless, contemporary challenges such as societal changes, economic pressures, and limited church resources hinder family participation in faith formation. The study concludes by recommending strategies to enhance family involvement in faith development. These include fostering stronger collaboration between the Church and families, providing targeted pastoral support, and integrating family-based faith formation programs into parish activities. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of how faith is nurtured in local church contexts and underscores the indispensable role families play in sustaining Christian discipleship in the Central Busoga Diocese.Item AN ASSESSMENT OF THE CAUSES OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AMONG ANGLICAN FAMILIES IN KASHONGI ARCHDEACONRY, NORTH ANKOLEDIOCESE OF THE CHURCH OF UGANDA(Uganda Christian University, 2025-09-05) Ahumuza EliaThis study assessed the causes of domestic violence among Anglican families in Kashongi Archdeaconry, North Ankole Diocese. Social media serves as an environment that brings Christians to think how principles derived from the Bible can serve to guide social media usage. The Bible talks about the carefulness of communication and the use of words, particularly that thoughtless words can be dangerous (Prov. 12:18, Jam. 3:6). Also, the division which comes with social media can make it harder for the people within the Church to achieve their goals of spreading love and oneness (1 Corin. 12:25). In relation to these concerns, this research aims to explore the positive and negative impacts of social media on the Christian society in a bid to provide recommendations on how to use social media while abiding by Biblical laws. This is the primary aim of the dissertation, to explore in depth social media’s impact on the Christian man’s life as well as spiritual well-being. In the present era, social media has become an intricate part of life for Christians, providing both positive and negative. On one hand, they have made communicating much easier while on the other, the risk of encouraging thoughtless words is high. Careless speech not only damages relationships but devalues them and can undermine the real bonds that exist traced to community engagement. Consummation of community results in spiritual development and is healthy, but when coupled with online relations where people engage ‘virtually’, it brings about the risk of shallow relationships (Heb. 10:24-25). The ever-growing rate at which false information spreads pose dangers to sound doctrine (1 Thess. 5:21). For example, misinformation and the complexities of the digital landscape will be the focus challenge focus of offer direction for Christians. The design for this research is qualitative and specifically focuses on the social implications of social media among Christians. They are explored through physical libraries and other academic based learning facilities. Qualitative research provides an exploration of the social attitudes and perceptions Christians have on social media such as the spiritual and emotional impacts of social media. The objectives of this research are multi-faceted. They include determining the responsible social media attitudes, evaluating the emotional relational aspects, and assessing the overall wide impact from a biblical perspective. As all other groups in the society, Christians need to address the modern societal challenges that could disengage them from the digital age. This research aims at providing the church with practical solutions that could promote Christians’ togetherness through healthy digital interaction that can help them grow spiritually. The general goals of the church and biblical teachings have to align with the rapidly increasing social media use, making the research particularly helpful and important. The findings of the analysis will contribute to the growing scholarship on technology, digital culture, and Christian discipleship while serving the academic and church communitiesItem THREE HOURS OF DARKNESS IN MARK 15.33: A SIGN OF GOD‘S JUDGEMENT(Uganda Christian University, 2025-08-12) THEMBO JOVINALThe desire to know the meaning of the three hours of darkness during Jesus‘ crucifixion and death becomes unavoidable for most readers of the gospel according to St. Mark as it is mentioned in the events which occurred at the apex of Jesus‘ mission on earth thus; during His crucifixion and death. St. Mark briefly mentions the three hours of darkness in his narrative (Mark 15:33) but he does not go into details of what it means, leaving many questions and speculations for his readers. This research paper is aimed at exploring the Biblical understanding and meaning of the three hours of darkness during Jesus‘ crucifixion and death mentioned in the gospel according to St. Mark (15:33) in light of other scriptures thus; what is revealed through prophets and the New Testament Epistleswhich I will look at as continue with the discussion.Item THE SIGNIFICANCE OF JESUS’ MINISTRY IN GALILEE(Uganda Christian University, 2025-08-13) MWESIGE SAMUELJesus Christ the king of the Jews based his ministry in Galilee a city of gentles. Have you ever asked yourself why? This study “the significance of Jesus’ ministry in Galilee” discuses well this question. In my study I will focus on biblical understanding of Galilee and the significance of Jesus’ ministry in Galilee and then application and conclusion. The sources highlight the promises of Isaiah 9:1-7 (Israel’s mission, failure to obey God, Judgment and promise of restoration), Jesus the fulfillment of Isaiah 9:1-7 (God’s kingdom restored in Jesus, as the promised King, warrior and priest which manifested through preaching, exorcism, healing, cleansing of the lepers, raising of the dead, restoring from the infirm, deaf, dump and lame, providing food and wealth, peace and security on waters, social justice and he offered himself as a sacrifice and interceded for people), and finally Galilee beyond Isaiah 9:1-7 (Jesus the spiritual refugee, Galilee a city of marginalized and the arrest of John the Baptist). All the three reasons above show that Jesus was the promised King who came to expand and restore God’s Kingdom to his people which was characterized by God’s dwelling and a blessing of abundant life. Noah’s offspring, Abraham’s offspring and Davidic kingship all failed to advance God’s dwelling and abundant life which had lost through Adam and Eve’s fall. This study shows how Jesus dealt with the sufferings, pain, sicknesses, and demons, lack of food and money which were seriously handled in Galilee This study finally makes applications that; Jesus is the promised Messiah and King, preaching the gospel in diversity, preaching the contextualized gospel, empowering local leaders, preaching hope and restoration, and to encourage healing and deliverance ministry such that God’s people in the contemporary world and church should witness, advance and adhere to the God’s plan of creation which was restored through his son Jesus Christ.Item THE CONTRIBUTION OF THE CLERGY IN ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT OF THE CHRISTIANS IN THE DIOCESE OF MA’DIWEST-NILE(Uganda Christian University, 2025-08-13) Hellen MunduruThe purpose of this study is to investigate the significant and relevant contributions of the clergy in economic empowerment of the Christians in the diocese of Ma’di west-Nile where the Clergy play a very vital role in the economic empowerment of the Christians they lead. Lastly we have the Bibliography.Item ASSESSING THE CAUSES OF DIVORCE AMONG THE CHRISTIANS OF ST. MATTHEW’S NSAMBWE ARCHIDEACONRY IN CENTRAL BUGANDA DIOCESE(UGANDA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY, 2025-08-06) KIRINYA PAULThe study was carried out in St Matthews Nsambwe Archdeaconry. Main purpose of the study was to identify causes of divorce as an outstanding challenge in families of Christians of the Archdeaconry. The researcher also wanted to know more about the view of the public on divorce which has been rampant today especially due to unemployment and poverty in very many Christian families of the Archdeaconry. Guided by the mixed methods approach, the including data was collected through personal interviews using a structured questionnaire which included 50 respondents who included divorced people, church leaders and pastoral counselors and this helped in improving the primary data. In depth interviews were held with parents and priests who have faced the problem of marriage breakdown in families. The findings showed that the major causes of divorce included infidelity, poor communication, and financial instability, domestic violence not forgetting spiritual and emotional support. The study also found that while the Church plays a role I offering premarital Counseling and occasional pastoral support, there is a significant gap between in sustained marital care and post-divorce support systems. Many respondents expressed a sense of spiritual disconnection and isolation following their separation. The research concludes that divorce in this Christian context is a multi-dimensional issue, influenced by individual and institutional factors. It also recommends the strengthening of Church counseling sessions, establishing support groups for affected people and also enhancing spiritual oversight for married couples. However, because of limited time, the researcher couldn’t use bigger sample size and therefore further research is encouraged to explorer the long term Pastoral interventions and their impacts on marital stability.Item THE CAUSES AND EFFECTS OF FAMILY BREAKDOWN ON CHRISTIAN MARRIAGES IN BUTEMBA C.O.U. EAST RUWENZORI DIOCESE.(UGANDA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY, 2025-08-04) TUMWEBAZE WILSONThe study analyzes the causes and effects of family disintegration on Christian marriages in Butemba Church of Uganda (C.O.U.) within the East Ruwenzori Diocese. The research seeks to explain the rising problem of marital instability among Christian families despite the Church's emphasis on biblical principles of love, commitment, and forgiveness. Based on research into real experience and member insight from clergy, churches, and marriage counselors, the study identifies the determinants of the issue to be lack of communication, adultery, financial difficulties, loss of spirituality, and outside cultural pressures. The study employed a mixed-methods approach, utilizing interviews, questionnaires, and focus group discussions to gather data from a sample population of Christian couples, church leaders, and family ministry teams. From the analysis of the findings, the study verifies that family breakdown affects the targeted couple but also has much broader implications on children, the church family, and society at large. Emotional harm, domestic violence, poor parenting, reduced church attendance, and social discredit were some of the key effects established. Finally, the research underscores the need for the Church to further its support mechanisms for Christian weddings in the form of ongoing guidance, instruction, mentoring, and prayer. Some of the recommendations involve the incorporation of pre-marriage and wedding counseling programs, increased involvement of church elders as role models of young couples, and promotion of family fellowship programs. The study therefore calls for cooperation between the Church, families, and community leaders to guard the holiness and stability of Christian marriages in the Diocese.
