dc.description.abstract | This research aimed to find out the impact of sustainability initiatives on supply chain performance and it used Victors Valley Hotel as its case study. It specifically focused on three main objectives which are the impact of corporate social responsibility on supply chain performance, the impact of circular economy on supply chain performance and the impact of waste management and recycling on supply chain performance. To achieve the above objectives, a cross sectional research design was employed and both quantitative and qualitative approaches were used in order to get an all-round view. Questionnaires were deployed that contained both open ended and closed ended questions in order to aid in the proper data collection. The study revealed that Corporate social responsibility (CSR) has a positive impact on job satisfaction and also contributes to a positive company image hence contributing to the better performance of the supply chain since most employees find it appealing. Yet this can only be successful if there’s proper communication and employee involvement. Also for CSR to be fully implemented and appreciated, there should be a proper work-life balance as well as an opportunity for growth. This study also shows that because of the limited knowledge around Circular Economy (CE), there’s a huge barrier to its full implementation. It also revealed that there is a lack of the social aspect in CE which shows that there is no shareholder involvement hence it affects the supply chain performance. Furthermore, this study also showed that the proper waste management and recycling can only be successful if there is proper transparency and efficient use of renewable energy. Also successfully identifying waste generation points is crucial for the mitigation of waste since it is able to be handled well that will benefit the supply chain effectiveness. Hence if these objectives are properly handled through proper communication, better stakeholder involvement and transparency, sustainability initiatives would have a greater impact on supply chain performance making it to be more effective and benefit all the players involved. | |
