The desire to know the meaning of the three hours of darkness during Jesus‘ crucifixion and death becomes unavoidable for most readers of the gospel according to St. Mark as it is mentioned in the events which occurred at the apex of Jesus‘ mission on earth thus; during His crucifixion and death. St. Mark briefly mentions the three hours of darkness in his narrative (Mark 15:33) but he does not go into details of what it means, leaving many questions and speculations for his readers. This research paper is aimed at exploring the Biblical understanding and meaning of the three hours of darkness during Jesus‘ crucifixion and death mentioned in the gospel according to St. Mark (15:33) in light of other scriptures thus; what is revealed through prophets and the New Testament Epistleswhich I will look at as continue with the discussion.
