dc.description.abstractThis study examined the relationship between sustainable procurement practices and organizational environmental performance at BIDCO Uganda Limited. Specifically, the study sought to identify the sustainable procurement practices adopted by BIDCO Uganda Limited, assess the environmental performance of BIDCO Uganda Limited in relation to its operations, and examine the influence of sustainable procurement practices on the environmental performance of BIDCO Uganda Limited. The study used a quantitative cross-sectional research design. Primary data was collected using structured questionnaires administered to employees involved in procurement and environmental management processes. Secondary data was obtained from company reports and regulatory documents. The study focused on major sustainable procurement activities such as green sourcing, supplier environmental assessment, and waste management, and analyzed their relationship with environmental performance indicators including energy use, water use, and waste reduction. The findings indicated that sustainable procurement practices positively contribute to improved organizational environmental performance. Organizations that emphasize responsible sourcing, supplier compliance and effective waste management are more likely to achieve better environmental outcomes. The study recommends that BIDCO Uganda Limited and similar firms strengthen sustainable procurement policies, invest in supplier development, enhance environmental monitoring systems, and ensure compliance with environmental regulations to promote long-term sustainability.
