| dc.description.abstract | The problem of cultural stereotypes is a worldwide phenomenon and it has continued ever since the First World War. From that time, no effort has been put in place to deal with the overblown impact of religion on cultural stereotypes. The study determined the impact of religion on cultural stereotypes in Nabumali Town Council, Mbale District. Specifically, the study explored the different religions that exist in Nabumali Town Couancil, Mbale District and determined the impact of religion on cultural stereotypes In Nabumali Town Council, Mbale District. The study further determined the appropriate interventions to improve bad cultures through religion In Nabumali Town Council, Mbale District. The researcher collected data from 15 respondents in the study area who were selected using simple random and purpose sampling and questionnaires together with interview guide were used to collect data. The study discovered that Christianity, Islam also exists, Judaism is another religion that exists and Hinduism are some of the religions that exists. Findings also revealed that religion creates and maintain social, economic and gender inequality in the society and religious belief may reinforce prejudicial stereotypes and violent conflicts as well as in-group religious priming had increased prejudice toward certain culturally out-group persons. Further, findings show that religion should reside within culture and harmony between religious groups living in close proximity can only be reached when conformity from both sides is employed. Religion which is considered spiritual should strongly control culture, which is the physical and the hierarchical structure of enlightenment arrangements of cultures, races religions need to reconsider how people with different religious affiliations relate to one another. The study recommended that government and stakeholders should sensitize the community of the need to reform bad cultures through religion and in conjunction with religious leaders should put in place measures that enhance religious harmony and reconciliation. | |
