| dc.description.abstract | This study examined the effects of e-sourcing on environmental sustainability in Uganda. The research was guided by three specific objectives: to assess the effect of e-sourcing practices on environmental sustainability outcomes, to examine how the integration of environmental criteria in e-sourcing platforms influences green supplier selection, and to evaluate the extent to which e-sourcing enhances organizational compliance with environmental sustainability expectations. The research was based on the Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) Theory, which underlines the incorporation of environmental aspects into the procurement and supply chain activities. Quantitative cross sectional research design was adopted and data was collected using structured questionnaires of 52 respondents sampled in Uganda among public and private organization. The data was examined with the help of descriptive statistics and inferential statistics, correlation and regression analysis. The results revealed that e-sourcing practices play a significant role in ensuring environmental sustainability by minimizing paper consumption, maximizing efficiency, and improving transparency. The paper also indicated that incorporation of environmental criteria in the e-sourcing systems has a positive effect in the selection of environmentally friendly suppliers. Nevertheless, such obstacles as the lack of technological infrastructure and insufficient focus on the environmental standards were observed. The research concluded that although e-sourcing has a great potential in enhancing the sustainability of the environment, its success or failure hinges on the level of implementation and institutional support. It suggested that policy frameworks should be strengthened, system capabilities should be increased, and people should become more aware of the green procurement practices. | |
