Item A STUDY ON THE EFFECTS OF CHILD NEGLECT ON LATER ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE AND CAREER IN KISOKO SUB COUNTY, TORORO DISTRICT(2024-09-28) AWOR ANNAABSTRACT This study determined the effects of child neglect of later academic performance and career in Kisoko sub county, Tororo District. Utilizing a case study design with a sample size of 36 respondents, the research focused on three primary objectives: exploring the effects of child neglect of later academic performance and career, and identifying interventions to overcome these obstacles. The findings revealed that 44.4% of respondents strongly agreed that lack of parental development and support was and poor home environment was a significant barrier for child neglect in the area physical neglect and low self-esteem. And bias were identified by 47.2% of respondents as prevalent issues affecting career progression. Balancing work and family responsibilities was a challenge for 38.9% of respondents. Additionally, 30% strongly agreed that a lack of financial resources was a critical barrier, while 27.8% agreed that community and poor home environment and resources created additional effects of child neglect. For children facing child neglect, 38.9% of respondents agreed that gender lack of parental involvement and support contribute to 47.2% noted that resistance from colleagues was a significant issue. The study also found that chronic stress and trauma contributes to 36.1%, and 33.3% indicate that physical neglect and health problems, societal expectations hindered policy implementation. The study recommends targeted leadership training programs, establishing mentorship networks, enacting gender equality policies, raising awareness to shift societal attitudes, and encouraging parents participate in decision-making processes to create a more supportive and equitable environment for Children at large.Item Access to Modern Family Planning Services Among Adolecents in Kangai Town Council Dokolo District(Uganda Christian University, 2024-09-02) Catherine AcenThis study examines the barriers to accessing modern family planning services among adolescents in Kangai Town Council, Dokolo District, Lango Region. It also explores the role of socio-cultural institutions in shaping access and attitudes toward these services, as well as strategies for promoting and sustaining positive views on family planning. Using a mixed-methods approach, data were collected from a sample of 320 participants through structured questionnaires and interviews. The findings reveal significant barriers, including physical inaccessibility, lack of tailored information, economic constraints, and stigma. Socio-cultural institutions, particularly religious and traditional leaders, play a crucial role in influencing access and attitudes toward family planning. While there is some community support, the study highlights the need for targeted interventions to improve accessibility and promote positive attitudes among adolescents.Recommendations include enhancing healthcare infrastructure, providing comprehensive education, and engaging socio-cultural institutions in advocacy efforts. The study contributes to understanding the complex factors affecting family planning access in rural settings, offering insights for policymakers and healthcare providers to improve service delivery for vulnerable populations.Item An Analysis on the Contribution of Sage on the Socioeconomic Wellbeing in the Lives of the Elderly Living in Northern Division, Mbale City(Uganda Christian University, 2024-02-23) Divine Hope MugideThe purpose of this was study was to find out contribution of sage on the socioeconomic wellbeing in the lives of the elderly living in northern division Mbale city. The study was guide by the three objectives to examine the spread and performance of the sage program on the elderly persons living. Identify the effectiveness of the evaluation system of the sage activity program, establish the impact of the sage program on the socioeconomic wellbeing of the elderly living in the areas of the northern division Mbale city. The study was both qualitative and quantitative. The study employed purposive sampling basing on their area of expertise in the study. The sample of the study was small with a total number of 67respondents, 16 beneficiaries and 4 key informants this was because of limited resources and time. Data was collected through structured questionnaires, in-depth interviews and interview guides. Quantitative data was analyzed using SPSS software and it was presented using tables for easy understanding and qualitative data was analyzed thematically for easy understanding of the statistical information to all readers. The findings of the study presented the general overview of how the elderly benefited socially and economically from the SAGE program for instance they have accumulated asserts like phones, farm land, chairs among others from SAGE program, the business or income generating project that the elderly are engaging for example shop selling, bar selling, salon operation among others and the skills that they have learnt and have helped them to manage or operate their businesses. The findings of the study also presented various reasons that have helped these elderly to accumulate asserts for example team work among others. The current situation before joining the program whereby the life has improved according to the majority and some challenges that they face towards accessing the funds.Item AN ASSESSMENT ON THE EFFECT OF STREET CHILDREN ON SECURITY OF MBALE INDUSTRIAL CITY DIVISION.(2024-09-06) MATANDA ISAACABSTRACT This study investigates the factors contributing to the increasing number of street children in Mbale Industrial City Division, assesses the nature and extent of their involvement in criminal activities, and explores strategies to curb their impact on local security. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative data gathered from 197 respondents, including street children, community leaders, law enforcement officers, and social service providers. Descriptive and inferential analyses using SPSS were conducted to identify significant trends and correlations. The findings reveal that poverty, family breakdown, and lack of access to education are primary drivers of children turning to the streets. Additionally, street children in Mbale Industrial City Division are significantly involved in petty crimes such as theft and drug-related activities, which negatively affect community security. The study recommends a multi-faceted approach to address the issue, including enhanced social protection programs, family support services, community policing, and the establishment of rehabilitation centers. The research underscores the need for coordinated efforts between government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and community stakeholders to effectively reintegrate street children into society and mitigate the associated security risks. These recommendations, if implemented, could significantly reduce the number of street children and improve the security and well-being of the community.Item An Assessment on the Influence of Child Labour on Children’s Academic Performance: A Case Study of Selected Primary Schools in Moruita Sub County Nakapiripirit District(Uganda Christian University, 2024-09-18) Lowalem John BoscoThe purpose of this study is to assess the influence of child labour on children‟s academic performance in primary schools in Moruita Sub County, Nakapiripirit District The specific objectives will be to examine the causes of child labour on children‟s academic performance in primary schools in Moruita Sub County, Nakapiripirit District; to analyze the effects of child labour on children‟s academic performance in primary schools in Moruita Sub County, Nakapiripirit District; to examine mechanisms of overcoming child labour on children‟s academic performance in primary schools in Moruita Sub County, Nakapiripirit District .The researcher employed the simple random sampling technique during the research when selecting the sample size of the research and the researcher will also use both descriptive and analytical research designs. The study concluded that most children in the community experienced child labour since the rest supported the statement. The cause of child labour included poverty of family members, lack of education of parents, unemployment of the parents, financial stress of the parents, family conflicts of members, serious marital problems, income inequality among parents, disagreement deaths of one or parents and sex of children where as the effects of child labour included depression of pupils, dissociating difficulty in concentration in class, alcohol or drug abuse, street children, home displacement, early marriages and mental disabilities and the solutions of child labour includes, helps nurture the children, promote programs, schools, volunteer, and report suspected mistreatment. Act involved e.g. the community, strict government laws against child labour; provide basic necessities, community outreach sensitization programs and counseling.Item ANTENATAL HEALTH CARE PROVISION AND MATERNAL HEALTH IN MALABA HEALTH CENTRE IV IN MALABA TOWN COUNCIL, TORORO DISTRICT(2024-10-04) EMEJE J_BSWASA_2024.pdfThe study aimed to assess the effect of antenatal health care provision on maternal health at Malaba Health Centre IV in Malaba Town Council, Tororo District, with a focus on three specific objectives: assessing the quality of antenatal care services, evaluating the accessibility of antenatal health services, and examining the effectiveness of health education and counseling on maternal health. Utilizing a cross-sectional survey design and a sample of 40 respondents from a population of 45, selected using Morgan’s sampling technique, the findings revealed varied results. For the first objective, the quality of antenatal care services was generally viewed positively, with significant satisfaction reported. However, regression analysis indicated a minimal relationship between antenatal care quality and maternal health, with an R-squared value of 0.009, suggesting that only 0.9% of the variability in maternal health outcomes could be explained by the quality of care. For the second objective, while accessibility aspects were largely viewed positively, regression results showed a weak relationship between accessibility and maternal health, with an R-squared value of 0.030, indicating that only 3% of the variability in maternal health was explained by accessibility. Lastly, regarding the effectiveness of health education and counseling, although these services were generally well-regarded, the regression analysis demonstrated that the effectiveness of counseling had a limited impact on maternal health, with findings suggesting that further improvements were needed. Based on these findings, the study concluded that while antenatal care services at Malaba Health Centre IV were positively perceived, there were significant gaps in quality, accessibility, and educational effectiveness that impacted maternal health. The study recommended that efforts be made to address these gaps by improving communication, expanding access to services, and enhancing the relevance and clarity of health education and counseling.Item Causes and Effects of Early Marriages in Kapchorwa Town Council Kapchorwa District(Uganda Christian University, 2024-09-03) Chebet MiracleThe study concentrated on causes and effects of early marriages in Kapchorwa Town Council, Kapchorwa District. The study concentrated on the: To find out the causes of early marriages in Kapchorwa Town council, Kapchorwa District, to investigate the impact of early marriages in of Kapchorwa Town council, Kapchorwa District and lastly to find out possible solutions to early marriages in Kapchorwa Town Council, Kapchorwa District. The study findings concluded that: Findings concluded that lack of employment and economic opportunities is the leading cause of early marriages, that parents offer their daughters to early marriages for financial gains, that early marriages lead to depression and feeling alone as they are in most cases always forced and there is no love always between partners, findings also concluded that forced sexual intercourse and denial of free will are in most cases a result of early marriages, that establishment of possible laws and regulations can help in prevention of early marriages, and lastly that women empowerment may play a great role in prevention of early marriages. Findings recommended that there should be more policies designed by the Government to curb early marriage among teenagers that parents should play their daily roles during children’s teenage age such as paying tuition to avoid early marriages and lastly that Government should design more programs that give teenagers more opportunities to stay in school.Item Challenges Faced by Women in Leadership Position in Kamonkoli Town Council Budaka District(Uganda Christian University, 2024-10-11) Flavia NeumbeThis study determined the challenges faced by women in leadership positions in Kamonkoli Town Council, Budaka District. Utilizing a case study design with a sample size of 36 respondents, the research focused on three primary objectives: exploring the various challenges affecting women, assessing how these challenges impact women in leadership roles, and identifying interventions to overcome these obstacles. The findings revealed that 44.4% of respondents strongly agreed that limited access to education and training was a significant barrier for women in the area. Workplace discrimination and bias were identified by 47.2% of respondents as prevalent issues affecting career progression. Balancing work and family responsibilities was a challenge for 38.9% of respondents. Additionally, 30% strongly agreed that a lack of financial resources was a critical barrier, while 27.8% agreed that community and cultural norms created additional challenges. For women in leadership, 38.9% of respondents agreed that gender bias impaired their effectiveness, and 47.2% noted that resistance from colleagues was a significant issue. The study also found that gaining respect and authority was difficult for 36.1% of women leaders. Insufficient support and mentorship were noted by 44.4% of respondents, and 33.3% indicated that societal expectations hindered policy implementation. The study recommends targeted leadership training programs, establishing mentorship networks, enacting gender equality policies, raising awareness to shift societal attitudes, and encouraging women’s participation in decision-making processes to create a more supportive and equitable environment for women in leadership roles.Item Child Abuse on Psycho-Socio Wellbeing of Children in Bufujja Kachonga Town Council, Butaleja District(Uganda Christian University, 2025-07-29) David SendaThis research report was undertaken to examine child abuse on psycho-socio wellbeing of children in Bufujja Kachonga Town Council, Butaleja district. It was guided by three objectives; to assess the levels of child abuse on the psycho-socio wellbeing of children in Bufujja Kachonga Town Council, to assess the effects of child abuse on psycho-socio wellbeing of children in Bufujja Kachonga Town Council, to find out the intervtions of child abuse on the psycho-socio wellbeing of children in Bufujja Kachonga Town Council. The researcher used a sample size of 63 respondents and used questionnaires and interview guide to collect data and later the data was analyzed using the statistical package for social sciences (SPSS). Results of the first objective showed that levels of childabuse has a significant effect on psycho-socio wellbeing of children in Bufujja Kachonga Town Council. Supported by the following responses; 62% were positive to the statement that children raised in stable two-parent families tend to have better psycho-socio outcomes compared to those in single-parent or disrupted families; 61% of the respondents were positive to the statement that affects of child abuse, such as high conflict, poor communication, or inconsistent routines, can increase the risk of psycho-socio problems in children. Results of the second objective revealed that effects of childabuse has a significant effect on psycho-socio wellbeing of children in Bufujja Kachonga Town Council. Supported by the following responses; 56% of the respondents were positive to the statement that affects of child abuse can lead to parents being less responsive and emotionally available, which restricts children's ability to regulate their own emotions, 80% of the respondents were positive to the statement that high levels of stress can impair parents' abilities to implement consistent discipline strategies and provide an emotionally stable environment, leading to disruptive behaviors in children. Results of the third objective showed that strategies of childabuse has a significant effect on psycho-socio wellbeing of children in Bufujja Kachonga Town Council. 62% forming the majority of respondents were positive to the statement that children may struggle to develop necessary emotional skills, such as empathy and emotion regulation. The government should encourage parents to take care of themselves by prioritizing their physical and mental health.Item CONTRIBUTION OF PARISH DEVELOPMENT MODEL PROGRAM ON THE SOCIAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE YOUTH IN NKOMA, NAMAYONYI WARD, MBALE CITY(2024-09-09) NABULOLI RHODAABSTRACT The examined the contribution of Parish Development Model Program on the Social Welfare Economic Development of the Youth in Namanyonyi Sub County, Namanyonyi ward, Mbale city. The study objectives were to explore the various development model programs that exist, to determine the contribution of parish development model program on the socio-economic well-being of the youths and to investigate the factors hindering the contribution of parish development model program on the socio-economic well-being of the youths in Namunyonyi Ward, Mbale City. The researcher adopted a cross-sectional survey design with a mixed-method paradigm that combines qualitative and quantitative methodologies. The study population constituted a total population of 80 respondents; these were strictly include Parish Chiefs, CDO, Youth and local leaders. The study instrument were; questionnaires, interview guides and document analysis guides. Study findings on the various development model programs that exist include National Agricultural Advisory Program is a development model programs for commercializing agriculture, Youth Livelihood Program for the youth, Operation Wealth Creation is a development model programs for commercializing agriculture, Women Empowerment Program, Social Action grant for the Elderly and Community Driven Development Project are among the various development model programs that exist in Nkoma Namanyonyi ward, Mbale city. On determining the contribution of Parish Development Model Program on the socio-economic well-being of the youths in Namunyonyi ward, Mbale City, finding indicated that Parish Development Model Program improved employment opportunities for the youth, a noticeable increase in their income levels, provided valuable skills training that is relevant to the local job market, effectively supported youth in starting and sustaining their own businesses, contributed to greater social inclusion and community participation among the youth and Parish Development Model has effectively addressed social inequalities affecting youth. The factors hindering the contribution of parish development model program on the socio-economic well-being of the youths in Namunyonyi Ward, Mbale City are as follows; inadequate funding and resources, PDM programs is insufficient to meet the needs of all youth participant, Lack of comprehensive training and technical support for youth participants has undermined the effectiveness of PDM programs, PDM activities has limited the positive impact on youth development, Inconsistent program delivery affects the overall success of PDM initiatives for youth and Weak monitoring and evaluation mechanisms within PDM programs limit their ability to address issues and improve outcomes for youth. It is therefore recommended that there is need to Increase Funding and Resources by securing additional funding through government allocations, donor support, or public-private partnerships to ensure adequate resources for program implementation and sustainability. The findings revealed that 70% of the respondents reported various forms of domestic violence, including physical, emotional, and psychological abuse. It also revealed that 55% of families experienced significant physical and psychological damages due to domestic violence. Furthermore, the study found that 60% of respondents identified limited access to support services as a major barrier in addressing domestic violence. The study concluded that while some interventions are in place, they are insufficient to effectively reduce domestic violence. It further concluded that more comprehensive and accessible support services are needed. The study also concluded that increasing community awareness and involvement could enhance the effectiveness of interventions. Recommendations include expanding support services and increasing community engagement to address domestic violence more effectively. Additionally, the study recommended strengthening collaboration among local authorities, community leaders, and organizations to improve responses to domestic violence and develop more effective intervention strategies.Item Determinants of Low Birth Weight Among Infants Delivered in Tokora Health Centre IV, Nakapiripirit District(Uganda Christian University, 2024-08-16) Sunta Joy NgiroWHO estimated that about 30 million low birth weight babies are born each year (23.4%) (WHO 2016). Ministry of Health estimated about 14.7% prevalence of low birth weight in Uganda in 2020. Tokora HCIV between 2020 and 2021 had a prevalence of 23.1% (Maternity and child Health Department, 2021). The broad objective was to identify the determinants of low birth weight among infants delivered in Tokora HC IV, Nakapiripirit District. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted, and data was collected at a point in time and the determinants of low birth weight and its factors were described. quantitative and qualitative methods of data collection were employed. Target participants were mothers who delivered live born babies from Tokora Health centre IV and attended post-natal care within the 6 weeks’ period after delivery. Findings revealed a low birth weight prevalence of 29.4% among babies who were delivered in Tokora Health centre IV, Nakapiripirit District, higher than the 23.1% in between 2020 and 2021 and also 14.7% for MOH, 2020. Significant findings were observed from the gestational age, maternal education and financial support from spouses. The health facility should focus on Health Systems strengthening and improve the capacity to deliver an integrated package on maternal, neonatal and child health service.Item Disability and Access to Social Services Among Women in Bugambi Subcounty, Sironko District(Uganda Christian University, 2024-11-01) Manuel MudamboThis study examined the impact of disability on access to social services among women in Bugambi Sub County, Sironko District. The research aimed to investigate how disability affected access to healthcare services, employment opportunities, and community support networks. A mixed-method approach was employed, utilizing questionnaires and interviews to collect data from women with disabilities, healthcare providers, employers, and community support organizations. Regression analysis was applied to assess the relationship between disability-related factors and access to social services. The analysis revealed a strong correlation (R = 0.683) and indicated that disability-related variables explained 46.7% of the variance (R² = 0.467) in access to these services. The findings showed that disability greatly influenced access to healthcare, with respondents highlighting the need for specialized training for providers and a reduction of societal stigma. Employment opportunities for women with severe disabilities were often limited, with education and financial support identified as critical factors in improving outcomes. Access to community support networks was found to be variable, underscoring the necessity for inclusive and tailored support mechanisms. These findings emphasized the importance of targeted interventions to address discrimination, enhance training, and improve infrastructure to better support women with disabilities in accessing essential social services.Item DRUG ABUSE AND THE ECONOMIC WELLBEING OF YOUTHS A CASE STUDY OF YOUTHS IN CENTRAL DIVISION, KAPCHORWA MUNICIPALITY.(2024-09-02) AMIS MONGUSHO TITUSABSTRACT This research study titled “Drug Abuse and the Economic Wellbeing of Youths: A Case Study of Youths in Central Division, Kapchorwa Municipality. The purpose of this study was to establish the extent to which drug abuse has affected the youths economically especially in the aspects of, poverty, crimes and unemployment. The study was descriptive and analytical in nature where both qualitative and quantitative methods of data collection were used through Questionnaires, interviews and observation. Collected data was analyzed using SPSS and was presented in form of frequency tables, percentages and graphs. The findings established that youths constituted a large segment of drug abusers though adults also are involved. The level of consumption or abuse of drugs was discovered to be growing at a faster rate which has resulted into an increase in the spread of diseases, health illnesses like cancer, HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis among others are also in the increase due to increasing use of illegal drugs. The economic challenges youths face as a result of drug abuse included productivity loss, health costs and crime costs. Emphasizing measures such as counselling, community watch, law enforcement against drug abuse would help to solve the problem of drug abuse. The study therefore suggested and recommended that; implementation of strict laws on production of drugs can help to reduce the vice, community sensitization, neighborhood watch in addition to regulation of strict laws on production and consumption of drugs. Nevertheless, police officers involved in corruption should be and emphasizing counselling sessions to the youths addicted to drug abuse through education, treatment, and self-help support projects. Further research could be conducted on drug abuse and its impact on psychosocial wellbeing.Item ECONOMIC STATUS AND FAMILY BREAKDOWN AMONGST MARRIED CHRISTIANS IN NABUMALI PARISH, MBALE DIOCESE(2024-09-10) NAMONYO MOSESABSTRACT This research investigated the impact of economic status on family breakdown among married Christians in Nabumali Parish, Mbale Diocese. The study aimed to evaluate how financial instability, feeding adequacy, and housing conditions contribute to marital separation and dysfunction. Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews with married couples and church leaders, employing a Likert scale to assess response intensity. The analysis, conducted using SPSS, revealed that financial instability significantly influences marital separation, with 63% of respondents acknowledging its impact, in line with Smith and Jones (2020). Regression analysis in SPSS indicated that financial strain accounted for 72% of the variance in marital separation, though variability in responses suggests a need for further investigation into additional influencing factors. Dietary disagreements and food insecurity were found to contribute to marital conflict, with feeding adequacy explaining 20.4% of the variance. Decent accommodation was associated with reduced marital conflicts and improved satisfaction but accounted for only 22.8% of the variance in marital dysfunction. These findings highlight the need to address financial, nutritional, and housing issues collectively to enhance marital stability. Recommendations include implementing financial literacy programs, community-based economic support, counselling services for financial and dietary issues, and improving housing conditions. These measures aim to mitigate the adverse effects of economic and social stressors on marital relationships.Item EFFECT OF CLIMATE CHANGE ON AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTIVITY IN MAGOLA SUB COUNTY IN TORORO DISTRICT(2024-10-04) OBWIN ALBERT A_BSWASA_2024.pdfThis study assessed the impact of climate change on agricultural productivity in Magola Subcounty, Tororo District, using a cross-sectional survey design with a sample size of 36 respondents. The research aimed to evaluate the effects of greenhouse gas emissions, temperature changes, and sea level rise on agricultural productivity. Findings indicated that greenhouse gas emissions led to a decline in crop yields, altered growth patterns, degraded soil quality, and increased crop diseases. Regression analysis revealed a significant negative correlation between greenhouse gas emissions and agricultural productivity (R = 0.556, R² = 0.309). Temperature changes were found to adversely affect crop yields, complicate planting and harvesting schedules, and induce water stress. Regression results showed a modest yet significant impact of temperature changes on agricultural productivity (R = 0.174, R² = 0.030). Sea level rise exacerbated water scarcity, increased soil salinity, and caused waterlogging. The regression analysis demonstrated a significant correlation between sea level rise and agricultural productivity (R = 0.248, R² = 0.062). The study concluded that climate change presents substantial threats to agricultural productivity in Magola Subcounty. Recommendations included adopting adaptive measures such as improved irrigation systems, heat-resistant crop varieties, and enhanced water management practices. The findings underscored the urgent need for targeted interventions to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change and ensure the sustainability of agricultural productivity in the region.Item EFFECT OF COVID 19 ON SOCIO-ECONOMIC WELLBEING OF WOMEN IN AKISIM PARISH, EASTERN DIVISION, SOROTI CITY.(2024-09-02) AWEKONIMUNGU NAHABABSTRACT The COVID-19 pandemic has had profound socio-economic impacts globally, with rural communities experiencing unique challenges. This study investigates the effect of COVID-19 on the socio-economic well-being of women in Akisim Parish, Soroti City. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research examines the pandemic's impact on women's income, health, education, and social structures. Findings indicate a significant loss of income due to disruptions in informal sector activities, an increase in unpaid care responsibilities, and heightened vulnerability to gender-based violence. Access to essential healthcare services was severely limited, exacerbating health risks for women, particularly in maternal and mental health. The pandemic also led to a disruption in girls' education, with long-term implications for gender equality in the community. The study highlights the need for targeted interventions to support women's economic recovery, improve healthcare access, and reinforce social support networks in rural areas like Akisim Parish. These measures are crucial to mitigating the long-term socio-economic effects of the pandemic on women and fostering resilience against future crises. Using a sample of 250 women, the research reveals that pandemic-induced employment changes, income fluctuations, and increased domestic responsibilities have significantly impaired mental health, with high levels of anxiety and depression reported. Financial instability was pronounced, with many women experiencing severe economic strain due to income loss and inadequate financial assistance. Additionally, the pandemic disrupted work-life balance, as heightened domestic duties combined with remote work created substantial stress. The findings underscore the need for targeted interventions to address these challenges, including enhanced financial support, mental health resources, and strategies to manage domestic workloads effectively.Item EFFECT OF DIVORCE ON PSYCHOSOCIAL WELLBEING OF CHILDREN IN BUNGHOKO SUBCOUNTY, MBALE DISTRICT(2024-09-09) WASAGALI L_BSWASA_2024.pdfDivorce is increasingly a serious problem the world over and the public is alarmed by the high rates of divorce cases. This study is to explore the effect of divorce on psychosocial wellbeing of children in Bunghoko Sub County, Mbale district. Specifically, the study investigate the factors contributing to divorces in Bunghoko Sub County, Mbale district and assessed the effect of divorce on psychosocial wellbeing of children in Bunghoko Sub County, Mbale district. The study also explored interventions for preventing divorce and improving psychosocial wellbeing of children in Bunghoko Sub County, Mbale district. The study used qualitative case study design to analyze data from the study area with the help of both qualitative and quantitative methods. The researcher collected data from 80 respondents in the study area who were selected using simple random and purpose sampling and questionnaires together with interview guide were used to collect data. The study discovered that Infidelity which also referred to as 'adultery' and commonly known as 'cheating' on one's partner- is near the top of the list of reasons for divorce and infertility may results into divorce. It also found that domestic violence is one of the factors contributing to divorce and divorce can be caused by misuse of social media such as Facebook and WhatsApp. Other contributing factors found by the study included the need for women empowerment has contributed to rising divorce cases and divorce has been caused by gender inequality. Study findings also show that problems such as more ant-social behaviors or mood disorders and anxiety may be encountered by children after divorce and children tend to be affected psychologically when there is a disruption in the family's connectedness and togetherness. Children who suffered from parental separation when they were adolescents and in early adulthood suffer from depression and children who suffered from parental separation when they were adolescents and in early adulthood suffer from depression. The study put forward interventions to prevent divorce and promote the wellbeing of children and these included the is need to create support systems that foster resilience and provide stability in all areas of their lives. And strengthening marriage laws that promote marriage as an enduring institution and encourage dialogue between partners. It was also revealed that addressing the issues of domestic violence comprehensively so as to protect individuals in families and addressing socioeconomic and cultural barriers that perpetuate gender inequality. The study found that strengthening justice institutions like LC courts and police to solve marital problems and prevent dissolution of marriages. The study recommended putting in place measures of strengthening marriage laws that promote marriage as an enduring institution and encourage dialogue between partners and sensitize the population about the dangers of alcohol addiction. It was guided by three major objectives: To investigate the various forms of domestic violence that exists in Nansanga sub county, Budaka district. To determine the effects of domestic violence on the psycho-social well-being of the rural women in Nansanga Sub county, Budaka district. To explore interventions necessary to handle domestic violence on rural women in Nansanga sub county, Budaka district. In data collection, two tools were used namely questionnaires and interviews guides. The subjects who participated in the study were the local council, police, women and finally parents The study revealed the various forms of domestic violence being experienced by the women and this included sexual abuse, financial abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse and others. These lead to effects like disabilities, death, development of aggressive behaviors, and anxiety, sleeping disorders and others. Recommendations were made on the basis of domestic violence in that government should strengthen its legislation on issues concerning domestic violence because it is rampant. It should empower women to take part in income generating activities so that they can survive on their own. There is also need for more guidance majorly for those affected by domestic violence finally those affected with the violence should always report such cases so that there is quick interventions, others can be referred to where they can be helped
